When traveling to or staying in another country temporarily, a visa is a required document. A person entering a foreign nation without a visa will be regarded as doing so illegally and face deportation. There are different types of visas, depending on their use.

Indonesian Visa Categories

Diplomatic Visa

Diplomatic visas are granted to foreign nationals, including family, who hold diplomatic passports and other passports, to enter Indonesian territory to carry out diplomatic tasks.

Service Visa

Service visas are given to foreign nationals holding official passports and other passports, including family members, who will travel to Indonesian territory to perform official duties that are not diplomatic in nature.

Visit Visa

This visa is given to foreigners who will travel to Indonesia in the context of government duties, business, education, tourism, journalism, or stop by to continue their journey to other countries.

Limited residence visa/KITAS

This category is for foreigners which include experts, researchers, clergy, workers, students, investors, second homes and their families. It also includes foreigners who are legally married to Indonesian nationals, who will travel to Indonesia to reside for a limited period of time. This visa is valid for 1 year and it may be extended every year for maximum length of time of 5 (five) years for working visa and 6 (six) years for Spousal visa.

Single Entry 

A single-entry visa is a document that is only valid for one visit. This visa is valid for 2 months and it may be extended 2  (two) times. The total maximum stay is 6 months.

Multiple-Entry 

A multiple-entry visa is a document that is valid for several visits. Until the validity period expires, the holder of this visa may enter and leave a country without having to constantly reapply for the required documentation. This visa is valid for 12 months and the maximum staying permit is 60 days for each entry to Indonesia.

Visa on Arrival

You can apply for this visa upon arrival at the destination country, so there is no need to obtain it in the country of origin.
