For foreigners who have been married to Indonesian national legally and with marriage certificate acknowledged by the government then they will get visa facility for family reunion that may be sponsored by his/her spouse with Indonesian national. That visa is valid for 1 year and will he/she will get a card referred to as KITAS from the immigration office and it can be extended every year. And, after entering the 3rd year with KITAS card, then that foreigner may file for permanent staying permit by obtaining a card referred to as KITAP valid for 5 years and it may be extended every 5 years and further if he/she is interested he/she may file for nationality. By using this type of visa then that foreigner is not obliged to pay levy /tax USD 100 per month to the government, but unfortunately the visa holder of this type is forbidden to work in a company or others by obtaining salary because according to the currently prevailing immigration rules a foreigner working by obtaining salary he/she must have the work permit/ IMTA and must pay levy /tax USD 100 per month to the government.
